BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.| Hilton Hotels Corporation, one of the world's leading hospitality companies, announced today that 4,800 team members at 32 of its North American properties will share in the company's annual "Go For The Green" Award. The payout for 2005 totaled more than $3 million dollars, the highest payout in program history.

Each year the Hilton Family of Hotels owned and managed hotels set their annual goals based on their prior year's actual results and projected performance. At the end of the calendar year a hotel must have achieved their goals in each of the Key Performance Indicators of the Balanced Scorecard, the Hilton award winning performance measurement system.

The Key Performance Indicators are

  • Operational Effectiveness,
  • Revenue Maximization,
  • Brand Management,
  • Loyalty, and
  • Learning & Growth.

All team members at hotels achieving their goals share equally in the award, each receiving a check for up to $500, with team members at repeating hotels receiving double the award, $1,000. Three hotels were "all green" in 2004 & 2005, looking to three-peat in 2006 and receive a maximum of $2,000 per team member, a challenge issued by Matthew J. Hart, president and chief operating officer of the company. "To receive this award for the second year in a row is a true testament to our outstanding team members as well as the commitment and support from the entire city of Austin," said Doug Gehret, general manager of the Hilton Austin. "We are up to the challenge to three-peat in 2006!"

Farooq Rehmatwala, general manager of repeating winner Hilton Miami Airport, added, "There is no other hotel team like the Hilton Miami Airport's. We are the four-time recipient of the Hilton Best Overall Performance Award, the two-time consecutive recipient of the Go for the Green Award, and true Masters of Hospitality fully committed to excellent customer service and complete guest satisfaction. As my team looks to the future and to our third Go for the Green Award, we will tell you: it's not lonely at the top. 400 Hilton Miami Airport employees share this immense pride every day with each other, our guests, and other Industry professionals who never fail to admire us!"

Winning hotels receive a custom designed plaque to display as a visible reminder of the outstanding achievement, a kit containing party favors for their on-site celebration, a large banner acknowledging their "all green" status, and of course, the bonus checks.

"Every one of these team members should feel a great sense of accomplishment and pride in the results they achieved in 2005," said Matthew J. Hart. "It's always exciting when a hotel reaches its goals, and it gives me a great deal of pleasure to present these team members with this award for their tremendous achievement."
