Further strengthening its enduring commitment to “promote from within” and its goal to establish an organisation dedicated to and driven by revenue generation, Rezidor SAS recently launched eLearning, by developing and introducing its first module: Basic Revenue Management Principles.

Rezidor SAS hospitality, one of the fastest growing hospitality companies in the world, prides itself in being committed to training and developing its people. Ensuring that their training and development initiatives remain competitive, and targeted to ever changing market and company needs, Rezidor SAS has entered the world of eLearning to reach a broader audience in quicker, more efficient and more cost-effective manner.

“We are a firm believer of promoting from within, i.e. giving the opportunity to our own loyal and ambitious employees, before looking outside to find talent. We are probably one of the only companies in the world who have such a high rate of employee promotion and development within the company, and a large number of employees who have worked with us for more than 10 years,” said Kurt Ritter, President & CEO of Rezidor SAS Hospitality, who himself has been with the company since 1976 – nearly 30 years.

The eLearning module complements the organisation’s existing learning forums of face-to-face training delivered both at hotel level as well as in the Regional and International Management Schools. eLearning offers an alternative method that has been customised to meet the needs of the company as well as the learner, and is offered through Rezidor SAS Intranet portal.

Advantages of eLearning:

  • Access at any time, any place – at work or at home
  • Complete the course at a pace convenient to the learner
  • Flexibility to re-visit the content frequently
  • Flexibility for the learner to match his/her learning style
  • Cost effective way to train a large number of employees dispersed over 49 different countries

Prior to launching this new module company-wide, a pilot was run and over 30 employees were selected, across all brands and all regions of Rezidor SAS, to gather feedback over the process and effectiveness of the online training module. The test pilots found the content to be relevant, the exercises interactive targeted and simple, the ongoing course feedback motivational, and above all the whole learning process a seamless, hassle-free and interactive self-disciplined form of learning.

Rezidor SAS also organises in-house Management schools four times a year to provide its employees with a unique platform to attend training programmes and seminars to further their knowledge and skills, and strive to achieve their career ambitions.

“One of our goals is to be employer of choice. And to keep up that standard, we have to provide our employees with techniques, tools and training at a regular basis to keep up with the competition, and also to satisfy their personal career goals. The launch of eLearning modules will help us better target these needs and train maximum number of employees at the same time”, comments Beathe-Jeanette Lunde, Vice President People & Operational Development.
