Turks and Caicos Chosen as Host Destination for 13th World Travel Awards
There are some forty islands and cays in the archipelago, varying from sand dunes to green vegetation. Eight of these island and cays are inhabited. The estimated 26,000 Turks & Caicos residents are known as "Belongers" and are renowned for their friendly spirit.
“Turks & Caicos are a unique set-aside group of islands in the Caribbean and we are delighted to host the event,” says Chief Minister of Turks & Caicos Islands, Michael Misick.

Major airlines, including Delta, AA, and BA, fly direct routes to Turks and Caicos from Altanta, Miami, Boston, New York and London, making the destination easily accessible for international visitors. Providenciales, Turks & Caicos will be opening the first Caribbean Aman resort in December 2005 and by 2007 the country will boast of the new Ritz Carlton to add to its portfolio of international hotel brands.
In conjunction with the awards gala ceremony, World Travel Awards will host high level networking and educational events such as World Travel Golf Tournament and World Travel Internet Conference on 19 September and 21 September respectively.
