Dubai | Dieter Franke has been appointed as Hotel Manager for the upcoming InterContinental Dubai Festival City.

Originally from Germany, Dieter brings over 14 years of experience in senior management with InterContinental Hotels and Resorts to the position.

“At InterContinental Hotels Group we are committed to sourcing the best people to oversee the management of our properties, and with Franke’s extended knowledge and experience, it is only fitting that he takes charge of complete hotel operation for our upcoming landmark property being built in this unrivalled and eclectic destination” said Tom Meyer, Area General Manager for the InterContinental Hotels Group, Dubai Festival City.

Dieter Franke joined the InterContinental Hotels Group as a Management Trainee in Frankfurt in 1988, and continued to work his way up to Director of Food & Beverage in Muscat, Oman in 2001. During this time he travelled within the group to New York, Cairo, Kemer and back to Germany. Subsequently he worked in Budapest as Executive Assistant Manager, before joining the Phoenicia InterContinental Beirut in 2004 as Hotel Manager.

Commenting on his new role, Franke said “This is a first in the history of the InterContinental Hotels Group where three properties – InterContinental, Crowne Plaza and the InterContinental Residence Suites will be launched simultaneously, all in the 3rd quarter of this year, all within Dubai Festival City. I am really excited to be a part of the pre-opening team. The new properties will strive to exceed expectations and raise the bar of hospitality service and quality in the UAE, taking guest experiences to a new level.”

The InterContinental Dubai Festival City 501 room hotel is due to open in late summer 2007, offering stunning views of the historic Dubai Creek, luxurious rooms and suites, and innovative, dynamic restaurants, beverage and event facilities.
