Ottawa-based CheckinWiz today announced a new solution for business travelers and hotels.

CheckinWiz is a web-based service that allows pre-booked guests to notify the hotel of their arrival time and check in using a PDA, for example a BlackBerry, or web-enabled phone.

With CheckinWiz service, guests confirm their arrival time at the hotel directly from their mobile device while ‘en route’ to the hotel. The hotel receives a customized message including time of arrival, guest preferences, and special requests, and can prepare a room and keys in advance of the guest’s arrival.

Hotels benefit from this direct connection to their guests to send instructions, marketing messages, such as daily restaurant specials, or important and timely information updates on hotel rooms and services. The CheckinWiz system improves both guest service and front desk efficiency, and reduces check-in times and line-ups at the front desk.

CheckinWiz includes modules for both “individual” and “group” check-in.

A “trial” version is currently being offered at several Ottawa hotels. The public launch of the CheckinWiz service is scheduled for 2008.
