Madrid, Spain | Amadeus, a global leader in technology and distribution solutions for the travel and tourism industry, has today announced that Vienna International Hotels & Resorts will use Amadeus multiproperty Property Management Solution (PMS) to manage 44 hotels, totalling over 7,500 rooms, by the end of 2010. The consolidated view of property and guest data allows Vienna International to improve customer service and help fill new hotels when they open up by cross-selling customers within the chain.

Vienna International Hotels and Resorts plans to have 60% more hotels by 2009, when it will have over 7,500 rooms and 44 properties. During this period of rapid growth, Amadeus multiproperty Property Management System (PMS) helps Vienna International fill new properties quickly by enabling them to cross-sell guests from existing properties to a newly-opened one. Centrally stored guest information enables individual properties to co-ordinate marketing campaigns and anticipate guest preferences and target prospective guests with individually tailored offers.

The multiproperty configuration gives Vienna International central control over its price policy and customer information database for all properties in the chain. This improves management control and consistency which are both vital for ensuring that fast growth rates are sustainable.

“We chose Amadeus for their commitment to a high level of customer service and the highly professional solution which integrates easily with our website and reservation system. At a time when our chain is growing very quickly, the ability to cross-sell across the properties is vital,” said Rudolf Tucek, CEO, Vienna International Hotels & Resorts.

Richard Kürzl, heading the PMS division of the Amadeus Hospitality Business Group, said: “We are delighted to provide our solutions to Vienna International Hotels & Resorts, a hotel group that defines quality and service in the European hospitality market. They exist as an example to other ambitious hotel chains: in today’s era of demanding and educated hotel guests, they are committed to learning about their guests in order to offer them a premium service. We look forward to further extending Vienna International’s already high standards and contributing to their successful expansion.”

Multiproperty IT solutions for hotels enable hotel chains or cooperations to easily manage complete guest data across any number of properties. For each hotel property, every guest is registered once in the hotel chain’s central database. All member properties then have access to this shared guest profile.

The Amadeus Multiproperty solution for hotels can be installed in the headquarters of a hotel chain. Another option is to outsource the central hosting to Amadeus. The Amadeus data centre in Erding is the largest and most secure of its kind in the world, its server farm resembling a high-security building. It handles 150 million transactions per day with upwards of 99.9% availability.

Central data management via the Amadeus Multiproperty solution offers hotel chains and corporations unrivalled flexibility and functionality. Some of the key elements of the system include:

  • Guest files: The entire hotel chain uses a single electronic file for each guest. This means less duplication and more effective use of customer data. All properties in the chain have access to comprehensive guest information, including when and where they stayed and what their individual preferences and habits are.
  • Availability: Every hotel can keep an eye on those chain properties that are most important for daily business and benefit from up-to-date information on room availability across the chain.
  • Cross-Reservation: Fully booked? Only one mouse click is necessary to complete an instant reservation in another of your chain’s hotels. No time-consuming login to another system is required.
  • Hotel search: Individual preferences of guests may be easily identified thanks to the search function (e.g. a four-star hotel with a fitness room).
  • Loyalty marketing/bonus systems: For instance, reception staff may refer to the guest's frequent flyer membership even before they ask to redeem bonus points.
  • Partnerships: Distribution and marketing partners operate even more successfully if they pool know-how and are aware of each other’s activities.
  • Cross check-out: Guests can easily use the facilities of more than one hotel in a chain. They may use the sauna or spa facilities in a partner property next door, for example, and even check out there if they feel like it. Services ordered in one can be invoiced in another. The cross check-out function also allows for smooth internal cost allocation between a hotel chain’s different properties and may even decrease the labour costs associated with night reception service - some nearby hotels may be able to reallocate staff based on occupancy rates in other hotels in the chain.
