Mike “shiny” Dimond’s Legacy Lives On At The BROADMOOR
At a Saturday evening gala, $2,000 was raised in a silent auction for the “Mike Dimond HSMAI Foundation Scholarship Fund”. It was established to continue the legacy of this remarkable leader who passed away June 23, 2008 after suffering a heart attack. Widely recognized as one of the top hotel marketing executives in the nation, Dimond’s career spanned over four decades.
Colorado Springs, Colo. (September 3, 2008) – Over Labor Day weekend, more than 8,300 people walked The BROADMOOR’s West Golf Course at the 2nd Annual Rocky Mountain Concours d’Elegance where the first-ever “Mike Dimond Memorial Trophy” was awarded to a 1958 Corvette Roadster owned by Bob and Elaine McFarlane of Denver, Colorado. The trophy was presented by Lou Dimond, Mike Dimond’s wife, to the vehicle with the most flair and personality in a field containing some of the finest antique, classic, historic race cars, limited production sports cars and vintage motorcycles from all over the United States.
