Nova Scotia | The Bay of Fundy in Nova Scotia has a chance to gain well-deserved global recognition as an international nature tourism icon and Nova Scotians everywhere can help make that happen. The New7Wonders Foundation is currently choosing the New7Wonders of Nature through an online contest. The Bay of Fundy is one of only five Canadian sites (and the only site in the Maritimes) selected to participate in this global contest. On December 31, 2008, only one Canadian attraction will be chosen to represent the country during the 2009 phase of the contest and Nova Scotians across the world have the opportunity to make sure their province represents the country by casting a vote online.

Nova Scotia attractions exemplify all that Canada offers and the Bay of Fundy is one of its most sparkling treasures. An ecological wonder, it is compared in biodiversity to the Amazon Rainforest and is home to the highest tides in the world. The Bay of Fundy’s world renowned geology has been contributing to global dinosaur and fossil records for centuries. It is the summer feeding area for more than half the world’s population of endangered North Atlantic Right whales and is a critical feeding ground for more than 90% of the world’s population of semi-palmated sandpipers. Visitors to the Bay of Fundy can enjoy hiking, beachcombing, Tidal Bore rafting, fossil-hunting, bird watching, kayaking and some of the best whale watching in Nova Scotia.

The Bay of Fundy is competing with four other Canadian sites in its category to be the top site in Canada to move forward in the contest: Perce Rock, Long Point Sand Spit (in Lake Erie), Gros Morne (in Newfoundland), and Dinosaur Provincial Park (in Alberta). Nova Scotians have a chance to show the world that Nova Scotia is the most beautiful province in Canada by voting online for the Bay of Fundy before December 31 at .
