Paul Tormey, Regional Vice President, Northeastern U.S. and Bermuda is pleased to announce the appointment of Leonard S. Czarnecki to General Manager of Fairmont Pittsburgh. Mr. Czarnecki brings more than 18 years of experience, at some of the world's most notable properties, to this position. As general manager, Mr. Czarnecki will manage the grand opening and operation of Fairmont Pittsburgh.

'Fairmont Pittsburgh is an exciting project, and I am delighted to be its first general manager,' said Mr. Czarnecki. 'Pittsburgh is a vibrant community, and we are looking forward to bringing Fairmont's luxury service to the city and to becoming a good neighbor and partner in the revitalization efforts already well underway.'

Prior to this position, Mr. Czarnecki was hotel manager at The Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston where he directed the operation of one of the city's most prominent hotels. While is Boston, he was active in the city's hospitality community as part of the Massachusetts Lodging Committee's Education Committee. And, Mr. Czarnecki directed the efforts of the Fairmont Copley Plaza's environmental committee.

No stranger to landmark hotels, before his work in Boston, Mr. Czarnecki was hotel manager at The Plaza in New York. While in New York, Mr. Czarnecki also held management positions at The Regency, The Hilton New York, The Waldorf=Astoria and New York Renaissance Hotel. Mr. Czarnecki began his career as a rooms division intern at the Hyatt Regency Hilton Head in South Carolina.

'Fairmont Pittsburgh will offer a variety of luxury services and amenities, and we are confident that the hotel, with its contemporary design and location, will quickly become one of the most sought after destinations in Pittsburgh.'

Mr. Czarnecki holds a degree is hotel and restaurant management from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island. He will move to the Pittsburgh area with his wife and their three children.

Opening in the fall of 2009, Fairmont Pittsburgh will feature 185 guest rooms, 12,000 square feet of meeting space and a 6,000 square foot health club. Fairmont Pittsburgh is part of a mixed-used development currently under construction. The construction site, Three PNC Plaza, is owned by the PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. which has more Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified buildings than any company in the world. Fairmont Pittsburgh is being built according to sustainable design and construction guidelines and is anticipated to receive a LEED Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, complementing Fairmont's philosophy of operational sustainability and responsible tourism.
