AUSTIN, TEXAS, USA | In line with its goal to be the source for hospitality financial information, Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP) is sponsoring a series of education sessions at the upcoming CMAA World Conference on Club Management and Golf Industry Show, February 5 – 10 in New Orleans, La. The series of HFTP-sponsored sessions focus on club finance and tax issues, with a majority presented by HFTP members.

The Club Managers Association of America’s World Conference on Club Management and Golf Industry Show is its most visible event of the year. It provides a variety of unique education opportunities that reflect the latest trends in the club industry. The HFTP sponsored sessions include:

  • Private Club Tax Update presented by HFTP member Mitchell Stump, CPA, PA, president and owner of the Club Book Series, Inc. The session is on Saturday, February 7 from 2:30 – 4:00 p.m.
  • Understanding Club Finances presented by HFTP members Ray Schmidgall, Ph.D., CPA, CHAE, professor at Michigan State University; Kevin Reilly, JD, CPA, member of firm for Witt Mares, PLC; and Thomas Smith, CHAE. The session is on Sunday, February 8 from 2:15 – 3:45 p.m.

    This session is based on the brand-new publication, Understanding Club Finances, debuting at the World Conference as CMAA’s 2008 – 2009 Premier Club Services Signature Item. An advisory council of HFTP members who are club financial professionals contributed to its content, as well as reviewed its articles.

  • How Will the New IRS Form 990 Affect Your Organization? presented by Anthony Cuozzo, CPA, with Councilor, Buchanan & Mitchell, P.C. The session is on Monday, February 9 from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
  • Internal Control at Your Club: Is It Working presented by HFTP member Kevin Reilly, JD, CPA. The session is on Monday, February 9 from 2:30 – 4:00 p.m.

In addition to the education sessions, HFTP has a presence on the Golf Industry Show exhibit floor. HFTP representatives are available in booth #7214 to discuss the professional association’s educational opportunities, member benefits, publications and resources. The Golf Industry Show is a joint golf and club facility management trade show hosted by CMAA, Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) and the National Golf Course Owners Association of America (NGCOA).
