Ithaca, NY -- On March 4, 2009, eCornell formally unveiled a new logo with the launch of its website marking a significant milestone in the company's evolution. The new mark supports a bold Ivy League presence and furthers the pursuit of delivering world-class learning experiences in the online environment - extending the global reach of Cornell University.

“eCornell’s new logo signifies our close ties to Cornell University and eCornell’s tighter integration into the strategic goals of many of Cornell’s colleges,” says Ross Pearo, eCornell Vice President of Product Development and Marketing. “Our new logo’s iconic shape and strong color palette capture the energy and vibrancy of our course offerings. This is evident in the newest version of www.ecornell.com which features increased functionality in course searching and includes more robust content for eCornell’s individual students and corporate and organizational partners, as well as a new section designed to provide additional information to the Cornell University community about eCornell’s capabilities to enable Cornell’s colleges and units to create transformative online learning experiences.”

A strong visual statement, the new logo communicates the connection to Cornell by transforming what was the red box into the arching shape of the university's insignia. What was the black vertical stripe now expands out into the surrounding space to hold the name eCornell. A coordinated typographic style and color palette with the university further articulates the close relationship.

The new brand identity combines the unique and innovative spirit of eCornell with the pronounced acclaim and rich historical precedence of Cornell University into a visual statement that will continue to drive eCornell into the future of online learning.
