Austin, Texas USA | Addressing current hospitality controller issues, Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals' (HFTP®) Club and Hotel Controllers Conference include general sessions discussing a topic on everyone's minds right now — surviving tough times in business. The conferences, held twice a year, are March 16-17 at the Westin Tampa Harbour Island in Tampa, Fla. and June 23-24 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, Calif.

With the world changing at a rapid pace it is not getting any easier to survive, let alone prosper. Dr. Larry Helms from Trainergy tackles these issues in his session "Tough Times Don't Last...Tough People Do!" He identifies habits and thought patterns that successful people use to not only cope with tough times, but to push ahead. He analyzes ways to make a logical and practical examination of skills, as well as techniques that have worked in the past and will work in the future.

Phil Maltin, partner at Gordon & Rees LLP, addresses human resource issues during his general session "Advanced Human Resource Basics: The Secrets of Great Leaders." In these economically troubled times, businesses must be especially vigilant to guard against lawsuits by employees. The session includes how to use human resources basics to advance in an organization while protecting yourself and business from the swarm of unnecessary lawsuits that often assault executives these days. Both conferences, which have an identical education program, offer up to 13 continuing education credits and the opportunity to network with colleagues. The conferences include general sessions and concurrent sessions with two industry-specific tracks, one for hotels and the other for clubs. Other topics addressed during the conference include how clubs can survive the recession, budgeting with a purpose, integrating systems to streamline costs and more.

Registration and the full conference schedule are available online. For more information, contact the HFTP Meetings & Special Events Department at [email protected], +1 (512) 249-5333 or (800) 646-4387.
