Accor – the largest operator of hotels and resorts in Asia Pacific announces the expansion of Mercure network, with 11 new hotel openings in the Asia Pacific region during 2009. The openings are in line with Accor’s ambition of growing the foothold in the midscale market segment in Asia Pacific with individual hotels.

These 11 new Mercure hotels triangulate the region from Japan in the North, Melbourne in the south and Bangalore to the west. The opening of the Mercure Bangalore heralds the arrival of the Mercure brand to India.

Mercure Hotel Sapporo Japan – opening on June 1, 2009 the hotel is located in the heart of the cities nightlife area – Susukino. Minutes from the cities landmarks the hotel featuring 285 rooms is set to be popular with leisure and business travellers alike.

Mercure Homestead Residences Bangalore India – located with easy access to IT and business parks, this residence has spacious suites and is located uniquely within a quiet residential street.

Mercure Hotel Chengdu Prime China - located in heart the of Chengdu CBD, surrounded by many high-end office buildings and shopping centres, the hotel features 503 guest. The hotel will open in September 2009.

Mercure Hotel Tianyou Chengdu China – opening in late 2009 located in the westside of Chengdu, in the new commercial & entertainment centre. The hotel is only 10 minutes from Chengdu National Hi-tech Development District, 5 minutes from city centre and 25 minutes from airport.

Mercure Hotel Pontianak Indonesia- this 172 room hotel opening in the third quarter of 2009, enjoys a prime location on the main artery and next to the largest shopping mall in Pontianak. Minutes from the airport, the hotel is within close proximity to the central business and government office district.

Mercure Fenix Samui Thailand – Formerly known as Samui Park, is located on lively Lamai Beach. The hotel has 52 rooms and 8 villas, and is expected to join the network in the third quarter of this year after renovations and a re branding program.

Mercure Hotel Hanoi La Gare Vietnam – Scheduled to open in the third quarter of this year, the hotel will feature 102 rooms and is situated in the heart of Hanoi’s main corporate area and opposite the main train station. The classic façade will be conserved while the full set of modern facilities will be added to the hotel.

Mercure Hotel Hue Gerbera Vietnam - The 107 room Mercure Huê Gerbera will benefit from its prime location on Le Loi Street where breathtaking views of Perfume River, and feature both leisure and extensive conference facilities. It is scheduled to open in the third quarter of this year.

Mercure Hotel Liverpool Australia – Liverpool’s first 4-star hotel will open in December 2009. It will offer 104 rooms built adjacent to the Liverpool Catholic Club, sharing its restaurants and other facilities including a children’s playground and three swimming pools. The hotel will be connected to a blackwater recycling facility to conserve water.

Mercure Hotel Caroline Springs Australia – The 4-star 104-room hotel, due to open in August 2009, promises to be the premier conference and event venue for Melbourne’s western suburbs, offering a 300 seat function and conference centre, catering to corporate conferences, events and private functions.

Mercure Yarra Valley Balgownie Estate Vineyard Resort & Spa Australia – joining the Mercure network on April 1, 2009, the hotel is set amongst the rolling hills and vines of Balgownie Estate.

Patrick Basset – Vice President Accor Japan, South Korea, Philippines and Vietnam says that “Accor has successfully managed the Mercure Hotel Ginza since 2004 and we are delighted to be managing this additional Mercure hotel and look to bringing the success of the Mercure Hotel Ginza and Narita to Mercure Sapporo.”
