Rezidor

STOCKHOLM, Sweden – The Rezidor Hotel Group (STO:REZT), one of the fastest growing hotel companies worldwide, has announced the addition of two hotels in Brighton: The Radisson Blu Hotel, Brighton (59 rooms) and the Park Inn Brighton (84 rooms) will join the group at the end of April 2009. “These signings underline the importance of the UK market for our company”, comments Kurt Ritter, President & CEO of Rezidor. “Brighton is one the country’s favourite destinations; we are glad to be present there.” “I’m tremendously excited to be working with Rezidor on these two hotels and I’m extremely confident that together we can create hotels that will become the leaders in the Brighton market”, adds David Glover, Director of Max Hotels, owner of the properties.

A local landmark, the future Radisson Blu Hotel, Brighton is today known as the Royal York Hotel. One of the city’s most historical hotels, it was built in 1771 as private homes and converted into a hotel in 1819. It was subsequently used as offices from 1929 to 2003, when it was purchased by the current owners. In 2007, the property underwent a complete renovation and regained its status as one of the city’s best hotels. It is also one of the most centrally-located, just 50 metres from the seafront and within 150 metres of three of Brighton’s most important tourist attractions: the famous Palace Pier, the Royal Pavilion, and The Lanes shopping district.

The hotel offers a total of 59 guest rooms, many with views either over the sea or towards the Royal Pavilion. This includes eight apartments, with one or two bedrooms and kitchenette. Many of the apartments have roof terraces with far-reaching views over the sea and city. For business guests, there are three meeting rooms, the largest able to accommodate up to 50 for a reception. “Max’s Sea Grill” serves simple yet elegant cuisine with a focus on locally caught fish and seafood. The lounge bar is perfect for relaxing with a coffee and catching up on emails, or for cocktails in the evening. Afternoon tea is also served.

The future Park Inn Brighton is currently in operation as Lansdowne Place. The hotel opened in 1854 and is a great example of a hotel offering the best of old-world English charm combined with the conveniences of a modern hotel. The property was fully renovated in 2004.

Located 100 metres from the seafront, the hotel offers 84 guest rooms, seven meeting rooms able to accommodate up to 200 for a reception, and “The Grill” restaurant serving traditional French cuisine. The hotel is also home to a spa, with eight treatment rooms offering a range of ESPA treatments, a sauna and a steam room, a relaxation room, plus a gym.
