A Whole World of Edmonton Entertainment in May 2009
Throughout May, Festival City offers fun for all ages with an international twist
Also on the Edmonton festival calendar for May is the 45th Annual St. Albert Kinsmen Rainmaker Rodeo & Exhibition, held at the Kinsmen Fairgrounds in St. Albert, starting May 22nd. "This year, our focus is on family fun," says Jim Oscroft of St. Albert Kinsmen. That means a midway packed with over 30 rides, everything from extreme rides for teens and less extreme ones for youngsters and grownups... and mini-donuts, of course. "You can enjoy a great day for less than you'd spend at a movie theatre," says Oscroft.
May 26 – 30th, St. Albert also hosts the 2009 International Children's Festival. The festival brings a wide array of entertainment to kids... and even a bit of education. The three clowns from Brazil's O Cano, for instance, have a hilarious time showing kids how to make music out of "found" objects, turning floor tiles into xylophones and PVC tubing into trombones. "We're bringing performance, literary and visual artists from all around the world: the U.S., Brazil, Mexico, Peru, the Republic of the Congo," says Troy Funk, Artistic Associate – Programming & Marketing. In other words, expect to see a whole world of entertainment in Edmonton, Alberta this month!
