DALLAS | Pegasus Solutions has teamed with Rubicon, a leading provider of market intelligence, to offer hotels agency and demand reports as part of a customized market intelligence reporting platform. Already recognized by early users as the most comprehensive and powerful hotel market intelligence tool available, MarketVision agency demand reporting allows hotels to measure performance against their competitive sets using various metrics and analyses for historical and future bookings.

This new innovative suite of reports offers the best integrated insight into market performance, with available measures based on revenue, net reservations, room nights, ADR (average daily rate), market share, average lead time and average length of stay. Additionally, booking patterns can be analyzed through the evaluation of room rate achieved, geographical source of business, travel agency, consortia / travel management company (TMC), or the channel that produced the bookings. This wide variety of reporting options, and far-reaching vision for forecasting has already directly impacted business for Hesperia Hotels, a member of Pegasus’ Utell® Hotels & Resorts representation service, according to Danielle Keogh, director of sales for the Hesperia London Victoria.

“We recently began using MarketVision over the past few months, and it has already had a profound impact on our business, enabling us to better forecast and target specific segments for growth,” Keogh said. “We now have access to forward-looking data that includes the current month, plus three months ahead, which has proved indispensable in our business planning, along with the provision of unlimited travel agents, TMC and consortia data. We have found the MarketVision product to be unrivaled in terms of the range and scope of reporting available to help achieve our revenue objectives.”

MarketVision’s capability to provide information on which sources have booked a property’s competitive set historically, as well as a view of booking demand up to 120 days out, can transform a property’s sales, marketing and revenue management decisions. Hotels can dynamically see and act against relative market performance, which also sets MarketVision apart from other market intelligence tools. Sarah Pugh, director of sales for The Stafford in London, reports MarketVision immediately and directly affected the hotel’s ability to both target and win business.

“We’ve always used business intelligence, but too often received reports weeks after the month that only looked backwards,” said Pugh. “MarketVision, on the other hand, lets me look all around our business this week, next week, and over the next few months, so I can actually compete, instead of regretting after the fact that The Stafford wasn’t chosen. Additionally, the detail of the reports allows me to determine who is booking. For example, I’ve already seen opportunities to work with other consortia next year. I know exactly who we need to be working with, which previously would have been unclear.”

MarketVision reports aggregate, organize and calculate various indexes to assist hoteliers in understanding their market position, including market share, target and market penetration measures. These measures also utilize “exception flags” that indicate performance status clearly – a red flag will display a hotel not receiving their fair share of room nights, whereas a green flag will indicate a property that has received or exceeded expected fair share.

Data used in the reports is sourced from Pegasus Solutions’ industry-leading UltraSwitch, which transmits reservations for 90,000 hotels, processing more than 49 million bookings annually, representing over 100 million room nights and in excess of $15 billion in hotel revenue. This is supplemented by data from Rubicon. Ric Leutwyler, president of Utell Hotels & Resorts and chief marketing officer for Pegasus Solutions added that MarketVision further expands Pegasus’ arsenal of tools for hotels to compete.

“MarketVision leverages the unique information flowing through UltraSwitch with Rubicon’s leading competitive intelligence set,” concluded Leutwyler. “This empowers our hotel customers to develop better sales, revenue management and booking strategies, thus allowing them to compete more intelligently.”
