ATLANTA, GA – The first installation of Onity’s recently released ADVANCE RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) contact-less electronic locking solution is currently underway at the Hacienda Tres Ríos Resort, a luxury Caribbean resort in the Riviera Maya region of Mexico. ADVANCE is a modular two- piece locking system that allows hoteliers to easily upgrade to the latest security technology without replacing the entire lock. The RFID reader technology is the most recent option to be added to the ADVANCE line. Onity, one of the world’s leading providers of electronic locking solutions, is part of UTC Fire & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).

Nestled within the 326-acre Tres Rios Nature Park in the Riviera Maya, Hacienda Tres Ríos is the first of five hotels to be built at this pristine oceanfront site. The property is at the forefront of sustainable tourism development, and is the result of a two-year study of the ecosystems in the region. The resort’s unique environmentally friendly construction incorporates native materials and features breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea. Hacienda Tres Ríos chose ADVANCE RFID, Onity’s latest locking technology, to secure its 273 luxury accommodations, including one- and two-bedroom suites. This installation blends advanced security technology into the unspoiled natural environment of the resort.

“The architecture of the resort was intended to blend with the environment, so it was only natural that we choose a locking system that allows us to blend the latest technology seamlessly with our clean and simple design,” said Diego Arroyo, project director for the resort. “We are pleased to be the first resort to offer this innovative security solution from Onity, providing peace of mind and convenience to our guests.”

Onity’s ADVANCE RFID locking solution is engineered utilizing the secure and reliable reader technology, which is MiFare® and NFC (Near Field Communication) compatible, and meets the most stringent standards in the industry, including ISO14443A and ISO14443B (part 4). It is also BHMA 156.25 and BHMA 156.13 certified.

ADVANCE RFID offers a selection of aesthetic options, including finishes, handle designs, and cover plates that allow hoteliers to blend the guest room door locks into any hotel décor. The modular design also allows a cost-effective upgrade path, making it easy and affordable to keep up with the latest security technology as it evolves.

“Our ADVANCE RFID solution provides an ideal combination of state-of-the-art security technology and aesthetic design,” said Mark Gordon, president of Onity. “Upgrading from ADVANCE magstripe takes less than 5 minutes per door, yet adds a host of benefits for both hotels and their guests.” For additional information, please contact Suzanne Fritz at 1-866-86-ONITY (66489), or visit .
