Mexico City | Hilton Hotels Corporation hosted a development forum in Mexico City, Mexico this week to reinforce the company’s plans to expand throughout the country. The event, held at the Hampton Inn & Suites Mexico City – Centro Historico, came following the recent announcement of the company’s plan for the first Hilton Garden Inn management agreement in Chiapas, Mexico. The forum brought together executives from Hilton’s development team, representatives from three of the company’s brands - Embassy Suites by Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn, and Hampton Inn by Hilton, and key decision makers from Mexico’s hotel investor and development community.

George Massa, senior director of development, Mexico, for Hilton Hotels Corporation, commented, “This is an exciting time for Hilton as we bring new hotels to Mexico. Our continued success in Mexico is a result of the perfect combination of brands, developers, and key markets with potential for growth. We met with great professionals and look forward to working with them to grow our portfolio in this amazing country.”

Late last year, Hilton announced plans to quadruple its presence in the Caribbean and Latin America with the addition of 150 hotels over the next five years including 60 in Mexico. The company also revealed a new development structure to lead the efforts in achieving this objective. Two of the team are dedicated to pursuing this growth in Mexico and since last year’s announcement have opened three hotels: Hampton Inn & Suites Mexico City – Centro Historico, Hampton Inn by Hilton Ciudad Victoria, and Hampton Inn by Hilton Guadalajara – Aeropuerto and just announced a management agreement with Hoteles Valle del Grijalva SA de CV, for a Hilton Garden Inn hotel in Tuxtla Gutierrez - the capital city of Chiapas. Hilton has added another five hotels to their development pipeline in Mexico which today consists of 21 properties spanning the country.

In an effort to continue this momentum, Hilton invited investors and developers to spend a day learning about three of the company’s brands. While Hilton’s plan involves all Hilton Family brands, this forum introduced Embassy Suites by Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn, and Hampton Inn by Hilton, with the latter two debuting their international property prototype.

Hilton Garden Inn introduced the brand’s international prototype which takes into account the varied requirements of travelers while capitalizing on the philosophy of bundled services to attract business and leisure travelers alike. The guest rooms, measuring 24 square meters for a single bedded room and 27 square meters for a double/double, are efficient and well designed with an emphasis on functionality and guest comfort. All of the other signature elements of the Hilton Garden Inn brand are in place such as the in-room hospitality center with a refrigerator and coffee/tea service, the 24-hour Pavilion Pantry® mini-market featuring an assortment of snacks, beverages, microwavable meals and convenience items, full service restaurant, complimentary Wifi throughout and complimentary, well equipped fitness and business centers. Flexibility in overall hotel layout allows the brand attributes to be right where guests need them. Hilton Garden Inn continues to see a strong global pipeline with its well received international prototype and has plans to bring the new design to Mexico at the new Hilton Garden Inn in Chiapas as well as areas such as Mexico City Distrito Federal, Morelia, Oaxaca, San Luis Potosí, Sinaloa, Veracruz, and Yucatan, among others.

The new Hampton by Hilton prototype will help turbo charge the Hampton brand in the Latin American market. This prototype will be more cost effective to build, will build on the brand’s current differentiation, and will provide added value of limited food and beverage offering for a small cost. Hampton Hotels took the best elements and ideas from its successful US hotel model, combined them with European design, functionality, Latin American influences, and Latin America owner feedback to create zones that meet guest needs with flexibility - a variety of areas that provide the ultimate guest experience by giving travelers the choice to conduct business, exercise, enjoy a meal, relax or interact with fellow guests. Hampton by Hilton is looking at several areas to develop the new prototype including Baja California, Mexico City Distrito Federal, Nuevo Leon, Puebla, Quintana Roo, San Luis Potosí, Tabasco, and Veracruz, among others.

The Embassy Suites by Hilton brand is also working on exciting plans and development projects could include areas such as Baja California, Jalisco, and Nuevo Leon, among others.

In addition to these three brands, the company will focus on introducing and expanding the Hilton Family of brands: Hilton, Conrad Hotels & Resorts, Doubletree by Hilton, Embassy Suites Hotels by Hilton, Hampton Inn by Hilton, Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn, Hilton Grand Vacations, Homewood Suites by Hilton, Waldorf Astoria, the Waldorf Astoria Collection, and the recently launched brand Home2 Suites by Hilton.
