U.S.-based hotel owners predict the growth of Western luxury hotel brands will continue relatively undaunted in Asia despite the latest bombings at two such hotels in Indonesia. Some hotel owners and operators say security is robust at American-branded luxury hotels in high-risk Asian cities, and the brands will continue to appeal to owners and travelers alike, regardless of the attacks in Jakarta and elsewhere in recent months. The bombings might give pause to developers considering Western brands for their hotels under construction in Asia, but few other brands lure travelers like Marriott, Hilton Hotels Corp., Hyatt and other Western names, industry officials say.
