In an unprecedented step by the current administration, Bernhard Bohnenberger is the first foreigner appointed as an Honorary Advisor to the President of the Senate of Thailand.

As a member of an elite panel, he may be called upon to advise Professor Prasobsook Boondech – President of the Senate, on all matters relating to high-end tourism, which is a focus for the country’s important inbound leisure sector.

With more than seventeen years as a resident of Thailand, Bohnenberger is currently the Managing Director of Bangkok-based Six Senses Resorts & Spas, a company about to open its seventh property in Thailand. The company recently opened their first Destination Spa in Phuket, building upon many years as a global leader with the Six Senses Spa brand, and supporting the Thai tourism direction to enhance the health-related inbound niche market.

Bohnenberger has been a guiding force with the innovative Six Senses group since its inception. During this time the company has grown to be a major employer in the tourism sector, with the upcoming opening of a Soneva property on the island of Kood commanding the highest rates in the region.
