SOUTHLAKE, Texas, SynXis, a key component of Sabre Hospitality Solutions that provides complete hotel distribution, Internet marketing and channel management solutions worldwide, announced today it has launched an interface for independent hotels and small- to medium-size hotel chains to link directly from SynXis' central reservation systems to Expedia, the world's leading online travel company. SynXis can now connect its more than 10,000 hotel customers to either Expedia QuickConnect, a hotel reservation system interface through which hotels can easily automate the exchange of room, rate and booking information with Expedia, Inc. sites worldwide or Expedia Connect, Expedia's solution for large hotel chains.

"The direct connect to Expedia further expands SynXis' simplified and streamlined hospitality distribution management solutions that work across all channels," said Felix Laboy, president and general manager of Sabre Hospitality Solutions. "By connecting directly to Expedia, our hotel customers garner a huge advantage when it comes to achieving a single image of inventory. Having the interface to both Expedia Connect and QuickConnect enables all SynXis customers to benefit."

SynXis hotels using the RedX Distribution Management System can manage rates without having to enter a separate extranet. The RedX interface to Expedia links hotels directly to more than 70 Expedia- and hotels.com-branded sites worldwide plus Chinese online travel site eLong and empowers hotels to better differentiate their products by providing information such as channel specific property descriptions, detailed stay policies, and promotional and child pricing directly to retail points of sales.

Affinia Hotels, a hotel group with properties in New York, Chicago and Washington, DC was an early-adopter of the Expedia Connect solution through SynXis. Rob Van Bremen, Assistant Vice President of Revenue Management and Distribution for Affinia Hotelssaid they have experienced increased revenues as a result of the direct connection via RedX.

"We receive a tremendous volume of bookings from Expedia, and since implementing a direct connection to Expedia through RedX we have seen an increase of over 25 percent in revenue generated as a direct result," Van Bremen said. "The direct connection saves our properties hours of time managing that inventory and ensures rate parity across all channels."

The unique Derived Rate feature in RedX gives property managers the ability to set one base rate and make any other rate a derivative of the base. This enables managers to manage just one rate and have the confidence that all other rates will be adjusted based on their revenue strategy. SynXis hotel customers that have historically managed Expedia rates by logging into a separate system can all benefit from the time saved managing rates directly in RedX, the extra revenue generated from this greater pricing control, and the cost savings and customer service benefits associated with automated reservation delivery.
