Hyatt Hotels & Resorts and St. Michael’s Foundation, Ltd. announce the signing of a management agreement for Park Hyatt St. Kitts at Cockleshell Bay.

To be located on the island’s southeastern peninsula against a breathtaking backdrop of pristine white sand beach, Park Hyatt St. Kitts will boast 125 rooms and a state-of-the-art luxury spa featuring eight treatment rooms. The Cockleshell Bay development will also feature 100 Park Hyatt-branded residential townhouses and condominiums, and 86 estate villas, which will deliver the same sophisticated design and discriminating service for which the Park Hyatt brand is globally known. When it is completed, Park Hyatt St. Kitts will be the first Park Hyatt hotel in the Caribbean.

“Park Hyatt St. Kitts will continue the company’s expansion in the Caribbean, joining Hyatt Regency Trinidad, which opened in 2008, and Hyatt Regency Curacao, scheduled to open in early 2010,” said Pat McCudden, senior vice president, development, Latin America and the Caribbean. “We believe St. Michael’s Foundation is the ideal partner for this project and we look forward to delivering an unprecedented level of luxury to St. Kitts.”

Occupying more than 150 acres, the Cockleshell Bay development is expected to be fully complete by 2013. In addition to the Park Hyatt hotel and residences, additional components of the Cockleshell Bay development include a 160-berth marina, a casino and a selection of worldclass restaurants.

“St. Kitts offers a tropical landscape unlike any other Caribbean destination, and we’re confident this development will showcase how the island offers something for all travelers, from our chic capital city of Basseterre to lush rainforests and everything in between,” said Chris Kanahai, chief executive officer, St. Michael’s Foundation. “Hyatt Hotels & Resorts and the Park Hyatt brand share St. Michael’s Foundation’s commitment to excellence and I know we are leading a new area of tourism in St. Kitts that will benefit the region in many ways.”
