The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) and Ecolab Inc., are partnering to present a webinar on the H1N1 flu pandemic and best practices for the hospitality industry. The 90-minute webinar, H1N1: 101, will be held Tuesday, September 29, at 2 pm (EDT).

Presenting will be Tom Polski, vice president of Global Communications and External Relations for Carlson Hotels Worldwide; Ruth Petran, M.S., corporate scientist for Ecolab; and Nina Fairweather, senior manager of Environmental Health and Safety for Starwood Hotels & Resorts in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

“No business can stop the H1N1 flu virus from coming through its doors. But knowing more about the symptoms, transmission and steps to prevention can equip owners to prepare with confidence,” said Christophe Beck, executive vice president of Ecolab's North American Institutional Sector. “Our aim is to help hotels plan and act in ways that reduce the risk of flu to their employees and guests – and keep their operations running as flu season progresses.”

“The webinar will give hoteliers information on proactive steps they can take to plan for and minimize the potential impact of the flu on employees and guests," said AH&LA President and CEO Joseph A. McInerney. “We’re delighted Ecolab, which serves many of our members with cleaning and sanitizing products and services, is supporting our efforts to help the industry prevent and prepare for the flu.”

Through support from Ecolab, the first 300 AH&LA members to register for the webinar may attend for free. The cost is $99 for nonmembers and for members who are not among the first 300 to register. To register, visit . The registration deadline is September 25.
