Ithaca, NY, Students from the Cornell School of Hotel Administration will partner with local food and beverage companies to present a series of fall educational events for the Ithaca community. All events are open to the public and will be held at Taverna Banfi in the Statler Hotel. Reservations can be made by calling 607.254.2624.

Guests will experience the best in Finger Lakes wine, beer, and food while enjoying intimate conversations with tasting partners and interacting with SHA students. This marks the third year that students in the school's Restaurant Management course have designed, marketed, and executed these events for members of the community.

"These events are fantastic for everyone involved," said Alex Susskind, associate professor of food and beverage management. "The students get to apply their food and beverage management skills, the tasting partners get to present their products, and the community gets to learn about and enjoy local products."

This year's series includes the following events:

  • Dessert and Wine Pairing Event
    October 19 and November 16, 6–8 p.m.
    $45 per person plus tax
  • Ithaca Beer Tasting Event:
    October 20 and November 2, 6–8 p.m.
    $45 per person plus tax
  • Red Newt & Taverna Banfi Culinary Bounty Dinner
    October 26, Reservations accepted between 5:30 and 9:00 p.m.
    $55 per person plus tax and gratuity
  • Hermann Wiemer Educational Event
    November 10 and 17, 6–8 p.m.
    $45 per person plus tax

These events, which will be held in cooperation with the Statler Hotel and the culinary staff at Taverna Banfi, keep with the school's educational mission: hospitality leadership through learning.
