Velas Resorts Group Announces Executive Appointments
Eduardo Vela, Chairman of the Mexican based Velas Resorts, announces executive appointments in management and food and beverage at the group’s Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit, which will be celebrating its 8th anniversary in 2010, and Casa Velas Hotel Boutique in Puerto Vallarta. All appointments are effective immediately.

Also in the Riviera Nayarit, famous French chef Regis Lacombe has been named Executive Chef and Food and Beverage Director for Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit resort, heading up the operation for its five restaurants, two bars and banquet facilities. Chef Lacombe has an illustrious background of 30 years of experience in haute international cuisine, including a position as Director General of the French Mexican Institute of Gastronomy and Pastry and as Executive Chef of the Four Seasons in Mexico City. Presently he holds the position as Honorary President of Mexico’s Vatel Club, an association of chefs and other leaders in the restaurant world and Honorary President of the distinguished Culinary Academy of France for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. Additionally, he is a Maitre Cuisinier of France and has been named one of the finest chefs worldwide by the academy of hospitality sciences.
Pierre Yves Bonin Floret has been appointed General Manager of Casa Velas Hotel Boutique in Puerto Vallarta. He joins Velas Resorts from Dreams Villa Magna in Riviera Nayarit where he was Manager. Previously, he was General Manager of the Hacienda Hotel, Spa and Beach Club and Resident Manager of Summit Hotel’s Buenaventura Grand Hotel & Spa, both in Puerto Vallarta. His distinguished background also includes positions at leading restaurants in Mexico’s major resort areas, France and Tahiti and also as Executive Chef of Club Med in Cancun. He is a graduate of the Hotel School of Monterey, Mexico and also studied at the Simone Weil Hotel School in Dijon, France.
Claudio Hotter is the new Sous Chef of Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit, bringing his wide experience with the cuisines of Northern Europe, the Mediterranean and Mexico to his new post. A graduate of the Zillertalen Hotel Branch School in Austria, he began his career in the kitchens of leading resorts in Switzerland and his native Austria. His interest in Mediterranean cuisines took him to the restaurant industry in Spain before coming to Mexico where he has spent the last six years in Cancun, Merida and Puerto Vallarta.
