Steve Rushmore knows the hotel market as well as anyone. He will share his wisdom and insights next Tuesday, November 17, in the Conversations with Entrepreneurs series sponsored by the Leland C. and Mary M. Pillsbury Institute for Hospitality Entrepreneurship at Cornell University. Rushmore will present from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. in 198 Statler Hall. He will dine with selected students after the event and meet with students, staff, and faculty the following day.

Rushmore is president and founder of HVS (), a hospitality consulting firm with offices around the globe. Over his 40-year career, Rushmore and his team have consulted on more than 15,000 hotels, addressing complex issues such as hotel feasibility, valuations, and financing. Rushmore was also a creator of the Microtel concept and was instrumental in its IPO. He is a partner in HEI Hospitality, LLC, a hotel investment fund, which makes him one of the few hospitality consultants who invest in and own hotels.

Rushmore is also a prolific author on hotel feasibility studies and appraisals, having written five textbooks and two seminars for the Appraisal Institute. He has also authored three reference books on hotel investing and written more than 300 published articles. A frequent lecturer at hospitality schools around the world, including Lausanne, Cornell, Houston, and IMHI, Rushmore has taught hundreds of classes and seminars for industry professionals.

Rushmore has a BS degree from the Cornell School of Hotel Administration and an MBA from the University of Buffalo.
