Recognizing the guest, strengthening the brand
Described as "a gentle evolution", the gradual transition from Radisson SAS to Radisson Blu Hotels & Resorts has been handled with the same care and collective calm as the colour represented in the new name.
"Our values, beliefs, ambitions, people, and high-quality hotel services remain the same and so does the blue box that differentiates us as the market leader in the upper upscale segment," explains David Dreschner, Vice President of Corporate Purchasing Services for Rezidor. "The brand name, however, is new and we want to correctly portray our new image, design and the contemporary design experience right from the moment our guests step into a Radisson Blu hotel and into their room."
OTRUM's graphics team worked closely with Rezidor to create a common visual theme for all Radisson Blu hotels that would improve the presentation of information to the guest and, at the same time, nourish the brand image. "We had to balance background themes and screens that were true to the Radisson Blu brand-image," says Kay Sperre, OTRUM's Senior Visual Designer. "The added challenge was to customize these guest interfaces in ways that would have the same look and feel regardless of whether they were seen as background pages on legacy systems or multi-media videos on high-definition screens."
The final design incorporated the classic topography and fresh image of the Radisson Blu chain with a simple-yet-elegant layout that emphasized ease of readability, accessibility and use. The result takes full advantage of the OTRUM Evolution Marketing Solution, a system with multimedia functionality for guest communication and targeted advertising. "We hope," says Sperre, "that the Rezidor-OTRUM collaboration has created a fun, engaging user experience for Radisson Blu hotel guests."
Rezidor, one of the world's fastest growing hotel companies, and OTRUM now plan to turn their attention to customizing and updating guest interfaces for other Rezidor brands including Regent International Hotels, Park Inn and their newest contemporary life-style, luxury hotel concept, Hotel Missoni.
