The Cornell Nanyang Institute of Hospitality Management (CNI) is endorsing the Gaming Executive Summit, which takes place at the Grand Hyatt in Singapore this week.

Dr Russell Arthur Smith, the interim Dean of CNI will speak on a panel that discusses diversifying and growing non-gaming revenue streams by tapping into the MICE, hotels, retail, F&B and entertainment businesses. He represents CNI alongside representatives from the hospitality organizations including Cirque du Soleil Asia, Menu Pte Ltd, St James Holdings, and Taubman Asia. During this panel session on 3 December 2009, Dr Smith together with the hospitality industry leaders and professionals will assess customers' demographics of comprehensive leisure and entertainment resorts, such as income range, spending levels and frequency of visitation to boost incremental non-gaming revenue, and examine the optimal size and mix of amenities in attracting non-gaming customer base through different marketing channels and strategies to reach out to specific customer segments and increase revenue.

GESA 2009 is Asia's leading and most established gaming event that brings together casino owners, operators and developers, investors, fund managers, policy makers, regulators, financial institutions and service providers to discuss industry trends, growth and development beyond the casinos floors.

Dr. Smith is a hospitality and tourism development expert who has extensive academic and professional experience in Asia, as well as North America and the Middle East. He is Interim Dean, Cornell-Nanyang Institute of Hospitality Management, at the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Dr. Smith has headed large multi-disciplinary teams for the preparation of major hospitality and tourism development plans. In addition, he has served on many private and public boards and committees throughout the Asia Pacific as well as held appointments in universities in Australia, Malaysia, Singapore and the United States of America. He holds a doctorate from Harvard University and a degree in architecture with first class honors from the University of Queensland. He is a Certified Practising Planner.
