The Cornell-Nanyang Institute of Hospitality Management (CNI) will offer a research seminar on the 'Best Practices in the Asian Hospitality Industry' and an open information session to the public, especially those in the hospitality industry in Indonesia to inspire and expose potential hospitality professionals to best practices that they can employ in their own daily work and careers. The event will be held at the Hotel Mulia, Jakarta from 9.30am to 11.30am on Saturday, 12th of December 2009. The Seminar will be conducted by Dr Russell Arthur Smith, the Interim Dean of CNI.

`Best Practices in the Hospitality Industry in Asia’ is a research book jointly produced by CNI and the Asian Business Case Centre of Nanyang Business School. The book provides the findings of a research project that explored best practices in the Asian hospitality industry. The outcome is a series of short cases designed to bring out the salient features of each best practice with the aim of fostering knowledge sharing and continuous learning among practitioners in the industry in Asia.

Dr Smith will cover the research methodology and selected cases reflecting best practices identified across the Asia Pacific region. The cases are subdivided into categories of General Management, Human Resource Management, Training and Development, Operations, Corporate Social Responsibility, Environmental Issues, F&B Management, Information Technology, and Others.
