China figures to play a large role in Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide’s expansion plans. Starwood previously announced it plans to open 80 to 100 new-build and conversion hotels this year, with the majority of those being in the Asia/Pacific region. Narrowing his company’s plans down further, Simon Turner, president of global development at Starwood, said China will play a key role in his company’s expansion not only this year, but during the next few years as well.
