The National Business Travel Association (NBTA) -- the world's leading corporate travel organization -- this week published its updated Corporate Social Responsibility Toolkit. The 2010 NBTA CSR Toolkit includes the addition of two new Reference Guides on: (i) Responsible Groups and Meetings and (ii) Technology Solutions. The toolkit is offered to NBTA members, as well as attendees of the NBTA International Convention & Exposition being held this week in Houston.

This update builds on the success of a resource first offered in 2008 and enhanced in 2009. The new version provides users a more detailed examination of CSR in corporate travel and the knowledge they need to implement CSR initiatives within their company's travel programs. Topics covered include:

  • Calculating the Carbon Footprint
  • Supporting Demand Management and Influencing Travel Behavior
  • Responsible Procurement
  • Responsible Groups and Meetings, including Volunteerism
  • Technology Solutions
  • Offsetting Emissions
  • Travel Risk Management and Duty of Care
  • NBTA's 2010 CSR Award Winners
  • CSR Case Studies

"As illustrated by the incredible work being done by Australia and New Zealand Banking Group ANZ and Marriott International – the winners of the 2010 NBTA CSR Awards – corporate social responsibility is a growing area of focus within business travel, and well-managed programs can have a tremendous positive impact for the health of our planet, the well-being of business travelers, and the effectiveness of a company," said Robert C. Wade, CCTE, NBTA CSR Committee Chair. "We are thrilled to provide an update of this invaluable resource to assist companies as they focus on sustainability in travel."

Leilani Latimer, Vice Chair of the NBTA CSR Committee, added, "For this update of the CSR Toolkit, we year we really focused on enhancing those sections in which members had expressed the most interest, as well as collaborating with other NBTA committees to bring sustainability full circle and demonstrate how it can be integrated into every aspect of the corporate travel program."

The first distribution of the toolkit is on USB drives provided to attendees of the 2010 NBTA Convention in Houston – The Business Travel Event of the Year. NBTA members can access the paper at www.nbta.org.
