MCLEAN, VA – The Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI) announced today that 70 Hyatt professionals recently earned HSMAI’s Certified in Hospitality Business Acumen (CHBA) credentials. In total 105 Hyatt professionals have pre-qualified for the CHBA certification through hospitality experience and education. The week-long training has been administered around the globe in China, Korea, Hong Kong, Australia, Vietnam, UAE, Germany, and Turkey, with an upcoming event in Chile.

“Hyatt is providing revenue leaders the skills they need to be most effective in their role in today's competitive marketplace. This includes not only leadership skill development but also a comprehensive understanding of profit and expense management from the perspective of the General Manager. HSMAI's CHBA certification underscores the commitment that Hyatt is making to its revenue professionals for training in revenue optimization and GOP management,” said Rhett Hirko, director of revenue management analytics, International Operations for Hyatt Hotels & Resorts.

The HSMAI certification examination follows an intensive training week called “Revenue Leadership” designed by Hyatt in collaboration with the REDGlobal Group. The workshop includes classroom instruction, a state-of–the-art simulation called HOTELsim, Hyatt executive presentations, and guest speakers.

The REDGlobal program, presented in the United States as “Managing Business Results” and “Managing Revenue” through the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association (HSMAI), is the prerequisite for HSMAI’s certification.

Successfully completing the training and attaining the CHBA certification signifies that the individual has the demonstrated abilities to be:

  • A keen business strategist, fully competent in business acumen and in producing optimal profitability;
  • A credible and convincing communicator, advisor, and mentor;
  • A knowledgeable tactician in contemporary trading channels; and
  • A leader within his/her organization and within the industry.

HSMAI Executive Vice President Fran Brasseux commended the Hyatt training initiative and push for employee certification. “For the credibility of the profession, it is important to recognize hospitality sales professionals who have met and surpassed high standards of education, experience, knowledge, and ethical conduct,” said Brasseux.

HSMAI’s four certifications, including the CHBA, the Certified Revenue Management Executive (CRME), the Certified in Hospitality Sales Competencies (CHSC), and the Certified Hospitality Marketing Executive (CHME), as well as other industry certifications, are more valuable than ever today, producing sustainable results for the individual and for their company’s ROI and bottom line.
