Expedia's Ferguson Named Winner of MMH Outstanding Alumnus Award
Brian Ferguson, vice president of supply strategy and analysis for Expedia, Inc., has been chosen as the winner of the 2010 MMH Outstanding Alumnus of the Year Award, presented by the Masters of Management in Hospitality (MMH) program at the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration. He will receive the award at the ninth annual MMH Reception on Sunday, November 14, 2010, 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., at the InterContinental Barclay in New York City.
The award committee selected Ferguson, a 1995 graduate of the program, after evaluating MMH and MPS (Masters of Professional Studies) graduates on a range of criteria, including academic performance and school involvement as a student; career progression since graduation; and continued engagement with the school and its students, alumni, and faculty.
Prior to joining Expedia, Ferguson was vice president of Smith Travel Research (STR). He founded RealTime Hotel Reports, an infomediary for the lodging industry, and worked at four of New York City's finest hotels, as well as the Metropolitan Hotel in Tokyo, Japan. He also spent a year working in Kenya for Africa Expeditions, where he was director of business development. He stays involved at the School of Hotel Administration by serving on the Advisory Board of the Center for Hospitality Research. He is also an active member of the Cornell Hotel Society, the alumni association of the school.
Sponsors of the MMH reception are Hotel Business, HotelWorld Network, InterContinental Hotel Group, and USA Today.
