Edmonton – Recognized as #1 for online marketing, Edmonton hits the top of the Canadian Cities Online Marketing 2010 Index. Measured for how well Canadian cities are marketing their territories, the index evaluated for investment attraction using Web 2.0 tools and current site information.

"It's an honour to be recognized as the top city by the Canadian Cities Online Marketing 2010 Index and we're delighted for this spotlight on Edmonton," says Jenifer Christenson, Executive Director External Relations of Edmonton Economic Development Corporation. "Our external relations team has worked hard over the last year to increase our online presence and to enhance our Edmonton social media efforts."

Assessed on the use of Web 2.0 tools and availability of relevant and current content for site selectors on the agency's websites, the study considered 20 of the largest Canadian cities. Halifax and Ottawa tied in second place, London in third place and Hamilton in fourth. A full report is available at www.intelegia.com and www.ebdata.com as well as an abstract, which will be published on Intelegia's blog, Tools For Thought. The Intelegia Index was presented at the 2010 Economic Development Association of Canada conference and the benchmark will be presented at the International Economic Development Council later this month.

"In this second edition of the Canadian Cities Online Marketing Index©, we have seen, at one end of the spectrum, new comers that are engaging on Web 2.0 applications and at the other end, agencies already active for two years. These agencies are building strong content strategies to position their regional leadership on the North American landscape." says Isabelle Poirier, President of Intelegia and investment strategist.

"The Edmonton Economic Development Corporation is proud of this recognition and will continue to be a leader in online marketing and promotion," says Christenson.
