‘Growing Profitability in an Uncertain Market – The Challenges to Come’ is the title of the 5th Annual BAHA Hospitality Finance Conference and IT Exhibition - to be held on Thursday, 25 November 2010 at the Sofitel Hotel, London Heathrow at Terminal 5

Some of the hotel industry’s most distinguished chief executives – including a starring participant in Channel 4’s recent TV series ‘Undercover Boss’ – will be putting the ‘Challenges and Trends for the Hotel Industry’s Future’ under the microscope at a Panel Forum on the opening morning of the 5th Annual BAHA Hospitality Finance, Revenue Management and IT Professionals Conference and Exhibition, to be held on Thursday, 25 November 2010 at the Sofitel Hotel, London Heathrow at Terminal 5.

The Channel 4 ‘Undercover Boss’ in question is David Clarke, Chief Executive of Best Western Hotels, who will be accompanied by Robert Cook, Chief Executive, Malmaison and Hotel du Vin; Michael Levie, a founding partner and Chief Operating Officer, citizenM hotel group; and Matt Luscombe, Vice President Performance EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), InterContinental Hotels Group (see ‘Notes to Editors’ for biographies’), in discussing and commenting on:

  • Key challenges for the future of the hotel industry
  • Key trends for the future of the hotel industry
  • Key challenges for their own businesses

“BAHA is honoured and delighted to have such an eminent panel of hotel industry leaders to examine some of the key issues and challenges currently facing the profession at this difficult time for the UK economy,” said BAHA Chief Executive Carl Weldon.

The ‘Chief Executives Panel Forum’ is the key morning session of the one-day 2010 Annual Conference and IT Exhibition, entitled ‘Growing Profitability in an Uncertain Market – The Challenges to Come’, of BAHA – the UK’s leading educational organisation for professionals involved in financial management, revenue management and IT within the hospitality industry. Another important morning session will be ‘Revenue Management Question Time’ – entitled ‘Revenue Management Drives the Commercial Success of an Organisation’ – where the chairman’s hot seat will be taken by Michael Prager, Senior Vice President Sales Hilton EMEA (Europe, Middle-East and Africa). He will present questions to a team of expert panellists – including: Warren Mandelbaum, Head of Revenue Management, Whitbread Hotels & Restaurants; Ciaran Fahy, Managing Director, The Cavendish London; Moz Shigdar, Group Revenue Manager, BDL Hotels; Fabian Specht, Regional Managing Director EMEA, IDeaS; and Heather Hart, Managing Director, RevExcel, and Chair of BAHA’s newly formed Hospitality Revenue Management Community (HRMC) Forum.

In addition at the Conference, Revenue Management will be the focus of a number of afternoon educational workshops, which will include sessions dedicated to other topical subjects in the technical areas of IT, revenue management and finance – such as:

  • Technical accounting aspects of IT, revenue management and finance
  • Background environment in which the industry operates
  • Strategic use of IT and benchmarking performance

The full programme of educational workshops will be announced shortly.

As in previous years, the BAHA Annual Conference will be supported by a growing and increasingly influential exhibition of IT suppliers – providing delegates with a ‘one stop shop’ to view and interact with the latest and ‘best in class’ technologies – covering all eventualities for hospitality businesses, whether they be start-up, established independent, or multi chain-owned, operations.

“In short,” Carl Walden concluded, “the 2010 BAHA Conference and IT Exhibition promises to be invaluable for networking, professional updating – through expert presentations, panel forums and educational workshops – and experiencing Continuing Professional Development (CPD). And that’s not all – the event’s grand finale Gala Dinner is not to be missed as it is not only one of the traditional social networking highlights of the BAHA Conference, but the hospitality industry as a whole!”
