The message on the first day of the World Travel Market from the Global Trends Report was one of caution but innovation in uncertain times. The BBC’s Fiona Foster, presenting the report, said figures show a significant improvement on 2009, with recovery skewed toward emerging markets over traditional favourites: “The global economy continues its multi-speed recovery, with a slowdown expected in 2011 as government austerity measures kick in and weakness in the euro zone remains”, she said.
