MAYBE you’ve seen it: the triangular three-story brick building at the west end of 14th Street. The peculiar location, on an isolated block beside the West Side Highway, allows for easy access by car, and maximum discretion. Inside the lobby, the concierge sits behind a pane of bulletproof glass. A vending machine displays boxes of condoms and bottles of lubricant beside packs of Oreos and Skittles. Every so often, luggage-less couples inquire about a room.
