Recognizing the need to get the hospitality industry talking about PCI compliance, the Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP) PCI Compliance Roundtable is hosting two sessions during HITEC 2011 (Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition and Conference). The PCI Compliance Boot Camp, part of the HITEC education program, and the HFTP PCI Compliance Roundtable Update, a special meeting open to everyone, will both be held on Monday, June 20 at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, Texas.

The PCI Compliance Boot Camp will be from 8:30 to 11:15 a.m. on day one of HITEC 2011, the world's largest hospitality technology exposition and conference. Industry experts representing the HFTP PCI Compliance Roundtable will highlight emerging PCI technologies, best practices, how to pick a QSA, cloud computing, incident response plans and more. Boot Camp attendees will learn the tools needed to conquer the difficult task of making sure credit card security is sufficient.

After the Boot Camp, an important special meeting titled "PCI Compliance Roundtable Update" will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The HFTP PCI Compliance Roundtable recently had its first two meetings and Roundtable representatives will present their findings to the industry for the first time during this special session. This session is open to anyone – conference organizers recognize the importance of the subject matter and are allowing all interested parties to attend, HITEC badges are not required.

The meeting includes an update from PCI Compliance Roundtable Chair Jeremy Rock, CHTP, president of RockIT Group and Frank Wolfe, CAE, CEO of HFTP discussing what the Roundtable has accomplished, their plans for the future and tools the industry can use towards PCI compliance. Bob Russo, general manager of the PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) will also be on-hand to discuss how the PCI SSC is handling security issues within the hospitality industry.

"Because of the hospitality industry's unique credit card processing structure, it requires special solutions to PCI compliance. Determined to educate the industry on this topic and find solutions, HFTP formed a PCI Compliance Roundtable earlier this year to bring together all segments of the hospitality industry to enhance data security and discuss potential resolutions to the ongoing issue," said Wolfe.
