I am delighted to announce that submissions are now being accepted for the second Cornell Hospitality Research Summit (CHRS), set for October 8 and 9, 2012, at the Cornell School of Hotel Administration. The theme of this conference is "Service Excellence and Performance Growth in the Global Hospitality Industry: Strategies and Approaches for Navigating Forward." Taking into account the turbulent economic environment faced by the global travel, tourism, and hospitality industry, the CHRS seeks presentations that blend research and practice with a goal of finding strategies and new knowledge that will move the industry ahead.
While the topic is broad, our goal is focused. We want to convert the knowledge generated by research into practices that will advance the industry's strategies and improve performance. It's important to note that much of that fact-based research comes from the industry, and a critical aspect of this Summit is to encourage the synergy that comes from cross-sharing of that knowledge.
Researchers in both industry and academe are invited to submit proposals for presentations, panels, tutorials, and workshops related to the conference theme, and then plan to attend. The CHRS's dates of October 8 and 9 are timed for the beautiful autumn scenery in upstate New York. The first CHRS brought together faculty, corporate partners, and other industry leaders to develop new ideas, theories, and models that improve strategic, managerial, and operating practices. The second CHRS will build on the strength of the first Summit.
Submissions will be accepted between now and March 2, 2012. Additional information about the call for papers is at http://www.hotelschool.cornell.edu/research/chr/events/chrs/submissions.html, and Summit details are found at: http://www.hotelschool.cornell.edu/research/chr/events/chrs/.

When we asked what made the 2010 Summit so successful, participants pointed to the high level of presentations and the interaction of industry and academe. So, we encourage you to send us your presentation proposal so that this year's Summit will be even stronger.
Sincerely,
Rohit Verma, Ph.D.
