AMSTERDAM – May 4, 2012 – Olery, a leading provider of reputation management software for the leisure and hospitality industry, released a report on the online reputation of hotels in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Few industries have experienced more change in their business as a direct result of the rise of the Internet than the travel industry has. There are also very few countries that have experienced faster or more impressive growth than the UAE in the last few years in terms of new hotels and overall room capacity. The Olery "What do guests think" report gives insight into what guests really think of the hotels in the UAE based on guest reviews from online review sites.

"The United Arab Emirates has some of the most luxurious hotels in the world, and continues to be on a fast track for adding more over the next five years to support the country"s position as a world tourism hub," said Kim van den Wijngaard, CEO and co-founder of Olery. "With increased competition on the horizon, all of the hotels in the Emirates should be monitoring their online reputation and making the necessary adjustments to stay on their game. Information and knowledge create a much higher level of expectation and, more importantly, extensive points of comparison. The new and more informed guest wants at least as much - and usually more - of the luxury experience."

The major highlights of the report are:

  • Number of reviews per hotel: The amount of reviews on the two biggest online review sites in the UAE grew over 200 percent, which shows the real importance of review site and social monitoring.
  • Star rating influence: Does the star rating of a hotel greatly influence the average review rating? The report looks at the relationship between the two. It was not immediately obvious however, because one could assume that an equal relationship in value for money could result in same review ratings across different stars.
  • Accentuate the positive: The report looks at semantic text analysis through a sentiment analysis tool in Olery Reputation which shows what people are speaking about both positively than negatively in their reviews of UAE hotels.
  • Top ranked hotels: What is the highest scoring hotel in the UAE based on average review rating? The report ranks the top ten hotels.
  • Top ranked hotel brand: What is the best scoring hotel brand in the UAE? Does one brand stand above another?
  • Total number of reviews and average rating per Emirate: Although Dubai is the most well-known tourist area, it was another city in the Emirates that had a higher average review rating.
