The outstanding young hospitality industry employees and student winners of the 2012 'Career Investment Development Scholarships' ofHOSPA– the UK's leading educational organisation for hospitality professionals involved in Financial Management, Revenue Management and IT – were announced Thursday, 22 November at HOSPA's Annual Conference and Exhibition,HOSPACE 2012, held at the Sofitel Hotel, London Heathrow at Terminal 5.

This year'sHOSPAScholarships were sponsored by Extegral Solutions Ltd. and split into two categories. The first was for outstanding young hospitality industry employees, under 30 years of age, in Finance, Revenue Management or IT; and the second was for UK University and College students who have excelled in their current full-time undergraduate hospitality-related studies.

'Outstanding Young Hospitality Industry Employees'

The 2012 recipients of the 'HOSPA Career Investment Development Scholarship' for being 'Outstanding Young Hospitality Industry Employees' are Natalie Hassell, Revenue Management Analyst, De Vere Hotels; and Mareen Kroeger, Reservations Co-ordinator, Malmaison Reading. Natalie was nominated for her award by HOSPA President Robert Cook, Chief Executive of De Vere Hotels & Village Urban Resorts; and Mareen was nominated by Paul Watson, General Manager, Malmaison Reading. Unfortunately, Mareen was unable to attend HOSPACE 2012.

HOSPA's Student Scholarship Winners

The UK University and College student winners were nominated for 'HOSPA Career Investment Development Scholarships' by hospitality course leaders for excelling in their current full-time undergraduate hospitality-related studies. The recipients were:

Andreas Holmes-Berge, studying International Hospitality Management at Oxford Brookes University; Cara McElroy, undergraduate in Hospitality Management at Bournemouth University; Bianca Ruxandra Anghel, studying Hospitality Business Management at University College Birmingham; and Kendra Dhakal, undergraduate in Hospitality Management at the University of West London.

The winning students were nominated by Cathy Burgess, Senior Lecturer in Accounting,OxfordBrookesUniversity; Andy Boer, Head of Hospitality,BournemouthUniversity; Tracy Haupt, Industrial Placement Co-ordinator, University College Birmingham; aupt, UndeHaupt and Mia Touzin, Field Leader, Hospitality and Event Management,UniversityofWest London.

All the 2012 HOSPA scholarship winners won the opportunity to learn from, be noticed and publicly recognised at yesterday's prestigious annual HOSPACE 2012 Conference and Exhibition. In addition, they attended the HOSPACE 2012 Gala Dinner and will be profiled in HOSPA's monthly magazine 'The Overview'.
