Fidelio Suite 8 at the end of its Life Cycle: Hotels Replace it with Cloud Solution from hetras
Prinz Hotel in Munich benefits from lighter and faster technology
Ending years of issues with hardware, databases, licensing and support with their legacy Fidelio Suite 8, the Prinz Hotel finally entered the modern era with a purely cloud-based hotel management system from hetras.
Mr. Christian Dorow, owner and manager of the hotel, spent a significant amount of time on the decision. "I consider myself a pioneer. Not only am I the first hotel director in Munich to switch to the cloud but I also helped hetras further design and develop the product."
The small but stylish 4-star hotel, a short walk from hetras' Munich office, has already experienced clear benefits from the cloud architecture. "The hard disk on one of our front desk terminals crashed last month" said Dorow. "I connected an old computer, typed in the hetras URL in the browser, and was back online within minutes. If I was still using Fidelio Suite 8, this process could have taken days. And I don't even want to think about the cost."
Mr. Dorow is himself an expert in hotel software with plenty of experience reaching back to the beginning of data processing in the hotel industry. He has worked not only with legacy products such as Fidelio but also Protel.
Great contact with Development
"Mr. Dorow is not the typical hetras customer" explained Martina Hahler, product manager. "He is most definitely a power user and he knows what he wants. Thanks in part to his input, we designed and built an innovative and highly effective selling screen for reservation agents."
The Prinz Hotel commands high REVPAR nearly year round thanks to many years of experience in optimizing pricing,
especially during the frequent trade shows in Munich and other events such as the Oktoberfest. The selling screen ensures that Prinz Hotel will remain among the top hotels of its category based on REVPAR.
"Our goal is to optimize our use of the system so that I can employ people from outside the hotel industry and get them up- to-speed almost immediately" added Dorow. "The hetras team is very receptive to new ideas and I look forward to working with them towards this goal.
A real alternative
Ulrich Pillau, hetras' co-managing director, is not surprised by the increased demand for hetras from Fidelio clients. "Hoteliers have been looking for an alternative for years.
