The Cornell School of Hotel Administration (SHA) has named two prestigious scholarship awards in Fabric Innovations' President and Owner Deborah Herman's honor. The dedication of the Deborah Herman Scholarship and Fabric Innovations Scholarshipstems from Herman's generous donations, as well as close relationship with the school as mentor and past guest lecturer in a series where young women of the SHA learned about Deborah's experience first-hand as a successful entrepreneur of her own company, Fabric Innovations, 17 years ago.

The Deborah Herman Scholarship and Fabric Innovations Scholarship awards $10,000 to two extraordinary students currently enrolled in the School of Hotel Administration who meet the qualifications to receive financial aid. The Cornell University Financial Aid office reviews the need of each student admitted, and compiles financial aid packages, including relevant scholarships like those in Herman's name, accordingly.

"I am beyond humbled that Cornell University has recognized my passion in mentoring the young professionals who are about to enter this wonderful industry, by dedicating scholarships in my name," Herman says. "These students are very much deserving of the resources to further their career and dreams in making a significant impact on this important, growing industry. I could not be more proud."

Herman (pictured right) says that she hopes through her contributions, both financially and through her hands-on outreach and lectures with SHA students, that no student is denied an opportunity to succeed in their future goals. "I will continue to work to provide these students with all of the necessary tools and resources to really go for it," she says. "The more barriers that can be taken down along the way for them, the greater the chance they will have to be extraordinary and really make an impact."

In addition to operating Fabric Innovations, Deborah serves as the International Ambassador for NEWH - the Network of Women in Hospitality, and has dedicated over 20 years to help promote and mentor young women in the ever-growing, expansive hospitality industry.

Herman's Miami-based company is the sole vendor for Heavenly Bed by Westin, Four Points by Sheraton top-of-the-bed, and is a bundled vendor for Aloft Hotels. The company is also a branded vendor of drapery fabrics for multiple hotel brands, and will be announcing new global partnerships for worldwide production with two new brands.

Known for sourcing the best materials and resources from every corner of the globe, Fabric Innovations currently manufactures draperies in South Hill, VA, drapery fabric in Turkey, linen products in India, top-of-the-bed products in Mexico, and a multitude of hotel products in China.
