iFlyPad Selected in Tomorrow Guest Rooms Competition - (SHTM) School of Hotel & Tourism Management, HK PolyU
Hong Kong: Spicy Innovations Ltd., is delighted to announce that the iFlyPad, which recently debuted in HITEC, has been selected to be part of the Tomorrow Guest Room by the School of Hotel and Tourism Management (SHTM) at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
Hotel suppliers and providers in design, technology and well-being who wanted to play a part in designing the guestrooms of the future were invited to share their products and knowledge through this special platform.
Entrants were reviewed by an expert panel and winners granted the unique opportunity for their products and services to be tested and researched in three dedicated guestrooms at Hong Kong's one-of-a-kind teaching and research hotel – Hotel ICON, for a period of six months.
An SHTM initiative, the three dedicated guestrooms serve as a platform to innovate, develop and showcase new technologies, hotel designs and business concepts in hotel management. Through these dedicated guestrooms, the SHTM has created a "House of Innovation" not only for the benefit of education and research but also to stimulate creative thinking in the hotel industry.
The iFlyPad, one of eight selected products, was featured in New York Times – on June 27th 2013 by renowned – Technology Columnist, David Pogue -
In the article, he praised the iFlyPad saying it was "well-designed, compact and extremely secure."
It is a most unique universal mount that enhances a users experience of mobile devices. It can be described as a low-tech solution for a high tech problem and is the first product to be launched by Spicy Innovations.
It delivers a viewing experience unlike any other since it uniquely supports devices like Tablets, Smartphones, eBook Readers and similar devices. It can be used in a variety of ways and places such as on an airplane, in the car, bus, train, boat, bathroom, kitchen, office, Hotel room and school. A recently held competition on Facebook where fifty iFlyPads were given away yielded almost 200 creative suggestions for its use.
IFlyPad conceived by Chef/Hotelier/IT Consultant Terence Ronson – Director and Co-Founder of Spicy Innovations had this to say, "Although iFlyPad is just coming to market and will be commercially available by the end of July, we are delighted that in such a short period of time it has gained tremendous market acceptance, and has been well reviewed."

Discussions are now in final stages for iFlyPad to be distributed globally and should start appearing in both Retail and online stores in the next 30-60 days. Being an ideal gift – Christmas 2013 should be a very exciting time for iFlyPad.
In support of the hotel project by Hong Kong's Poly U, guests staying in a Tomorrow Guest Room (from July 2013 to January 2014) will be given a complimentary iFlyPad souvenir for each arrival into a Tomorrow Guest Room; "After all Ronson adds, "it's the perfect travel companion, and a gift that keeps giving."
