Mobile travel reservations are on the rise and if you want to succeed, you need to be

online and mobile. This key message reverberated from the hotel industry's top technology experts throughout Trust International's annual Customer Conference in Florence Italy.

Web access from mobile devices will exceed web access from desktop computers in

2014 according to Morgan Stanley reports. Therefore, design for web access from any device will be critical, noted Paul Mervin, Managing Director of Cognite and internationally recognized authority on information and communication technologies (ICT), who led the "Designing the Optimal Website" session.

In 2013, Trust is experiencing record highs for hotel reservations through online

distribution. Internet reservations through company´s own web sites and via OTA channels have more than doubled since 2011.

"We believe the momentum for online hotel distribution will continue, as all statistics

point to more guests booking travel online, particularly last minute travel via mobile devices," explained Richard Wiegmann, Managing Director, Trust International. "With one in three online purchases travel related, we crafted this customer event to drive home the importance of leveraging the online distribution market as well as best practices, new technologies and products and insight into the future that can help hoteliers capture online reservations through an array of devices."

Trust customer Dominic Carr, Corporate Vice President at Rotana Hotel Management

Corporation Ltd stated, "The depth of information we received on the online market, the new tools available from Trust and the analysis of the market from the independent experts is extremely beneficial as we continually reassess our strategy to address changing market conditions and anticipate future needs. The network of contacts we have developed here will be invaluable."

In a departure from the discussion on online reservations and technology, Magma's

Bruno Halle shined a spotlight on the potential of the Latin America market. The overall rise in gross domestic product (GDP), GDP per capita and falling unemployment rate since 2009, coupled with Latin America's historic and natural attractions have caused it to become an increasingly popular tourist destination that is forecast to continue growing significantly in the next 20 years.

Tnooz's Quinn, in his presentation "Big Trends in Hospitality Distribution," focused on

how disruptive forces, such as mobile technology, social media and new business models, upset the status quo, creating new opportunities for those ready to harness them.

Wiegmann noted, "Trust has always embraced disruptive forces, and we often find that

these forces provide inspiration for us to partner in new ways. Meeting with hoteliers and our presenters this year, we once again came away with valuable insights and innovative thought starters that will help us mold the Trust products and services of tomorrow that give our hoteliers a competitive edge and improve their bottom line."
