confirmed keynote speakers Matt Smith and Pierre Botteron of FRHI Hotels & Resorts, and Taleb Rifai, Secretary General of the UNWTO, at the Young Hoteliers Summit 2014. Cyril Ranque will share his experience at Expedia and thoughts on how technology is affecting the hospitality world with the audience.
The first panel – “Career Strategies for Future GMs: Better Off in a Chain or Independent Hotel?” willdelve into a group discussion between Chain Hotels and Independent Hotel Directors. The panel will be headed by Torsten Pinter, GM of Swissôtel Zurich; Roland Fasel, Regional Director of Dorchester Collection; Andrea Kracht, Chairman at The Leading Hotels of the World, and Andrés Oppenheim, GM of Grand Hôtel Suisse Majestic, Montreux. The panel aims to uncover differences in career opportunities and room for development in chain and independent hotels for graduates.
The second panel – “Hotels vs. OTAs: Does it have to be a battle?” will explore the ongoingcollaboration debate between hotels and OTAs (Online Travel Agents). Together with Cyril Ranque of Expedia, Heather Leismann (Managing Director EAME, HotelTonight), Markus Schreyer (Regional Director of Marketing for East & Central Europe, Starwood Hotels & Resorts), Pascal Roult (Corporate Director of Revenue Management EMEA, Four Seasons Hotel and Resorts) and Philipp Ries (Industry Leader for Travel, Google Switzerland), will join this panel discussion. Ries is responsible for the management of Google's partnerships with its largest customers in Switzerland in the travel and tourism industry. The combination of stakeholders aims to give the delegates a chance to compare different approaches in distribution as today’s entrepreneurs and hoteliers are required to be more tech-savvy.
The delegates, who will come from schools around the globe including Cornell University, Hong KongPolytechnic University, the Emirates Academy and Washington State University, will have an extraordinary opportunity to exchange ideas, network, and compete against each other in the challenge set by FRHI Hotels & Resorts.
