NEW YORK – Following the successful close of its 11th annual HOTEC Design event this month in Florida, Questex Hospitality + Travel today announced that the next event will be held June 8-11, 2015, at the newly renovated Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in San Diego, California.

The 2014 program, held June 16-19 at the waterfront Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo, hosted more than 1,300 one-to-one meetings among 200-plus leading buyers and suppliers promoting hospitality design. Florida provided a scenic backdrop for dynamic peer-to-peer networking, business meetings and a farewell beach party.

Attendees also participated in a philanthropic team-building activity with the Jessie Rees Foundation by filling JoyJars® with toys and activities for children fighting life-threatening diseases. The jars are meant to spread hope, joy and love to these children and remind them to "Never Ever Give Up."

Presented by Hotel Design and Hotel Management magazines, HOTEC Design brings designers, hoteliers, architects, management companies, purchasing firms and more face-to-face with innovative suppliers for three days of one-to-one meetings and creative exchange. Buyers and suppliers alike praised this year's event.

"HOTEC Design 2014 was a terrific event," said Cathie Pritchard, director of projects, HPG International LLC, an international provider of procurement services based in Walnut Creek, California. "There were a wide variety of great vendors and seamlessly organized agendas, wrapped in a perfectly marvelous location."

"HOTEC is a wonderful forum for connecting buyers and suppliers, said Mark Gambino, director of hospitality," Palecek Hospitality, a supplier of furniture, lighting, wall décor and accessories based in Richmond, California. "The two days of meetings coupled with wonderfully planned networking events allows for plenty of opportunities to meet the customers who are important for your business."

Marilyn McHugh, vice president of global events for Questex Hospitality + Travel, who oversees HOTEC Design, said this year's focus was on providing wellness design in hospitality. "Hotel guests today are exceedingly focused on healthy living and expect to maintain their wellness lifestyle when traveling," she said. "It is important that the hospitality industry continues to adapt to meet their changing needs. HOTEC Design provides that inspiration."

David Eisen, managing editor of Hotel Design and Hotel Management magazines, led the Well-Thought Design in Wellness Hotels panel, an interactive hour of education that dug deep into wellness design in guest rooms and public spaces as well as spa and food and beverage operations.

"HOTEC Design is successful year after year due to its focus on uninterrupted one-to-one interaction between buyers and sellers in a relaxed environment," said Mary Malloy, HOTEC Design event director and associate publisher of Hotel Design magazine. "The event brings to life the pages of Hotel Design magazine and website and engenders long-term personal connections among some of the industry's most innovative professionals."
