NEW YORK (Sept. 5, 2014) ─ Amy B. Vaxman, publisher of Questex Hospitality + Travel's Hotel Management and Hotel Design Magazines, has been recognized as one of the most influential women in media by Folio, a multichannel resource for the magazine and online media industry.

Vaxman was honored in the Corporate Visionary category, which recognizes women who steered their companies into new markets, opportunities and audiences and achieved strong, measurable growth in their companies.

Folio's Top Women in Media list pays tribute to influential women who drive the agenda for the media industry by innovating in new ways and guiding their businesses into new markets. To be honored, women must demonstrate that they "moved the needle" through revenue or audience growth, brand extensions, product launches, business transformation, thought leadership or pioneering actions.

"Amy Vaxman is one of the most talented women blazing a trail in media," said John McMahon, Questex executive vice president and group publisher. "She was a driving force behind our evolution from a traditional publisher to a multichannel digital media resource. She also helped pave the way for our readers to connect with suppliers in a progressive, cutting-edge way."

Vaxman joined Hotel Management magazine in 1994 as a sales manager. Following a successful career in the industry, she returned to Questex Media Group in 2012 as publisher of its Hotel Management and Hotel Design magazines, responsible for strategic planning, new products, initiatives, communication with advertisers and ongoing delivery of relevant industry news through its multiple media platforms.

Established in 1875, Hotel Management is one of America's longest-running business-to-business publications delivering hotel news and analysis. "Under Amy's leadership, the Questex media portfolio has expanded and been strengthened," McMahon said. "She turned traditional marketing practices upside down and injected new life into the business by developing a new team and strategy. Amy genuinely understands how to best serve our readers' needs in this ever-changing market."

During her tenure, Vaxman relaunched Hotel Design magazine, which celebrates the design excellence of hotels, resorts, lodges and destination spas. She spearheaded a digital strategy by developing custom marketing programs including educational industry white papers and webinars. She also employed creative tactics including a multimedia contest involving print, digital and social media platforms.

"The key to building a magazine is really understanding your market, editorial product and readers and offering a suite of products to best serve your advertisers," she said. "I am proud to lead an extraordinarily talented team at Questex Media Group, from our editorial staff to sales, marketing and operations. We share a commitment to serving our advertisers and readers and enjoy taking a leading role in the industries we represent."

Previously, she spent nine years with Reed Business Information, where she served as a regional sales manager responsible for promoting hospitality publications including HOTELS, HOTELS' Investment Outlook and FES food-service magazines.
