Travellers could save up to £130 a night in Venice by using the new Travel Advice Calendars from hotel search website trivago.co.uk. The calendars show the most affordable and most expensive months to visit the world's top destinations – saving holidaymakers hundreds of pounds in some cases.

Featuring 45 cities across six continents, the calendars show average monthly hotel prices in a colour-coded scale to advise travellers when to book. These averages are calculated from over 700,000 hotels on over 175 booking sites over the last three years.

Denise Bartlett, Public Relations UK: "Seasonal differences obviously play a large part in price trends – hotel prices in many European destinations are at their lowest in January and highest in warmer months. However, the travel advice calendars show that waiting just two months to book a break in Paris (from June to August) could potentially save travellers up to £61 a night. The maximum potential savings in Venice is an average of £130 per night – a significant amount of money in one of Europe's most expensive cities."
