Questex Hospitality - Hotel Technology Conference

The fifth annual Hotel Technology Conference (HotelTech), which recently concluded at Marina Bay Sands, brought hotel CIOs, CTOs, information officers and e-commerce directors together to explore how existing and emerging technologies can support and help grow new revenue sources, improve operational efficiency and enhance customer service standards.

This annual conference focuses on how technology innovations can exceed guest expectations and improve internal efficiencies. As the region's only conference dedicated to subjects in this field, keynote addresses and panel discussions explore the latest technological trends in hospitality.

HotelTech featured a keynote speech about wearable technology and mobility by Ani Bhalekar of Accenture Digital. A panel discussion on mobile device management and integration followed with Chieu Lee Tan, corporate IT director of Hotel Equatorial Management; Ray Mond Tan, group IT manager of COMO Hotels and Resorts; and Ashish Kale, Marriott International's senior director, IT operations, India, South East Asia and Pacific.

Ingvar Herland, group general manager, research and technology, of Peninsula Hotels gave a keynote speech about guest room technology, the second theme of the day. He shared Peninsula's experiences in implementing an in-room control system.

Derek Maggs, vice president – industry and value engineering for Southeast Asia and services & consumer Industries of SAP APJ discussed how to attract, surprise and retain guests. He observed that the traditional funnel-based marketing approach is no longer valid and each customer shapes his or her own journey. To facilitate purchases, hoteliers should proactively engage guests through multiple channels and manage their experiences.

Other senior hoteliers and experts who discussed mobility, guest room access, marketing tools and CRM aid included Casey Yoon, regional sales manager, Enterprise Networking ASEAN, Cisco Systems; Tony Yeoh, vice president, global technology, AMEA, IHG; Grahame Tate, vice president – sales and marketing, Oracle MICROS; Maunik Thacker, senior vice president – marketing, Marina Bay Sands; David Rees, vice president Asia Pacific, Salto Systems; Mark Wong, vice president Digital Marketing, SilverNeedle Hospitality; Greg Beatty, chief operating officer, DOCOMO interTouch; Maria Gail Taylor, regional vice president, sales and distribution, Meritus Hotels & Resorts; John Bowen, founder & CEO, MediaConcepts; and others.

The Hotel Technology Conference will return to Singapore in October 2015. For more information, please visit the event website at http://www.questexevents.net/hoteltech .
